Jack had a week off of work and we were excited to go to Lake Powell with my family. But several days before our departure, the government could not agree on a budget causing a government shutdown. The shutdown closed national parks, including Lake Powell. We decided to take our flight anyway, but we got off at our connection in Phoenix and drove from there to Newport Beach to meet up with my family. It was a lot of traveling and our kids say they never want to go on an airplane again! But I thought it was worth it.
On our way through Phoenix we got to spend a little time with our friends, the Flamms. On the way back we saw Jack's cousin, Jon Jerman and his family.
The weather in Newport Beach was beautiful! It was warm, but felt a little chilly compared to the heat and humidity of Miami. We spent a lot of time at the beach just hanging out and talking. The water was freezing but Hannah and Jane hopped right in, Hannah even tried boogie boarding. It is so fun for my kids to see my family, they get spoiled with so much attention.
We also rented bikes one day and road to Balboa Island. Hannah got to ride on one of those small bikes attached to an adult bike, she loved it and can't stop talking about it.
Lots of babysitters meant that jack and I got to go out and celebrate my 31st birthday!
We spend two days at Disneyland! So fun! Jackson and Hannah were tall enough for all the rides, but that doesn't necessarily mean they enjoyed all the rides. Hannah's favorite ride was Soaring Over California and Jackson's was Mater's Square Dance. Jackson also developed a crush on Andrea and only wanted to be with her the whole
time. He told me she was his honey bear. Luckily she was patient with him and took him on any ride he wanted. She couldn't go on any adult rides anyway because she announced to is while we were at Disneyland that she is pregnant! We can't wait to finally have a Christensen cousin.
