After having Jack around for one heavenly week, his 3rd year rotations came all too soon and so far it has been like a slap in the face. He started his first shift of his Internal Medicine clerkship on Tuesday at 7:30 am, he did not get off until Wednesday at 4:45 pm. That is over 33 hours! And during that time he slept a total of two hours. On top of the crazy hours, he still has to study and prepare for the next day. And did I mention there are nearly no days off for the next six weeks? I think we are both wondering what we've gotten ourselves into.
When he finally returned home today wearing his white coat and a stethoscope around his neck, Hannah refused to look at him. He asked her if she wanted to go play with him and she started to scream. We finally figured out that it was because she was afraid he was going to give her a shot (since he was dressed like a doctor).
On a positive note, he does look handsome in his white coat, even after a 33 hour shift.

Hearing that makes me dread what is to come. Dave is doing his psych rotation first and it's not bad at all. This is going to be a long year!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! You'll get through it, I promise! In fact, some rotations just fly by and you look back and think, "Oh! That wasn't too bad!"
ReplyDeleteWhat a great picture of Jack! Hang in there...
