Today Hannah and I went to Sacrament meeting alone while Jack stayed home with a sick-y Jackson. Toward the end of the testimony meeting, Hannah got up and started walking toward the front without saying anything to me. She glanced back at me with a mischievous smile and kept walking. My face turned hot as I wondered what she was going to do. She had never asked to bear her testimony before. She didn't ask me to come and help her or even tell me that she was going to go up front. I debated whether I should follow her but I decided to wait and see. She walked to the microphone and they lowered it all the way down for her. All I could see was the top of her head. She began by saying, "My name is Hannah." And then proceeded with a list of things she is thankful for including the prophet and our Savior. She also said that she hopes Jackson feels better soon. She concluded it in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Many of the congregation turned to see my reaction as she walked back to the bench. I was so surprised and touched, I was crying when she returned to me. I gave her a hug and she asked me why tears were coming out of my eyes. She told me she wasn't nervous at all, she just felt like she wanted to do it. The remaining 10 minutes of the meeting were dominated by other children who decided to follow Hannah's lead and bear their testimonies too. I am proud of my little girl who followed her heart today.

What a sweetie! There's nothing more touching than a kid bearing their testimony.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good girl! That is the sweetest; I really miss being in church with you guys :)
ReplyDeleteI once knew a little girl, named Melissa, who volunteered to give the talk in Primary EVERY SINGLE TIME the opportunity presented itself! Fortunately, she was really good at memorizing her talks, word for word, even before she could read! She's all grown up now, and I still love to hear her speak from the pulpit!
