Jr. High Spanish

Do you remember jr. high Spanish class when the teacher would go around the room and ask each student a simple question such as, "Te gusta la comida?"  You weren't allowed to respond wth a simple "si" or "no" because the teacher wanted to make sure that you understood.  The correct response was, "Si, me gusta mucho la comida."  Or if you had an attitude you could say, "No, no me gusta la comida."

I feel like I am back in the Spanish class and my three-year-old is my teacher.  She talks constantly, and to be honest sometimes it is hard not to tune her out so that I can hear my own thoughts.  But she knows what's going on.  So when she asks, "Wouldn't that be pretty is Sleeping Beauty had pink shoes?" A simple "uh huh," "ya," or even, "yes," is never enough.  She needs to know I am listening, so she replies, "NO MOM!  I SAID...." and goes on to repeat her question until I give the "correct" response: "Yes, it would be so pretty if Sleeping Beauty had pink shoes."
