But it was very hard for us to leave student housing after living there for almost 6 years. When we first got married I did not want to live there. When we were engaged and looking for a place to live, walked through the student housing complex and all I could see were the crappy old buildings where people had hung sheets and towels in the windows instead of curtains (f they had anything hanging at all). Plus it smelled like Asian food. And there was no carpet or air conditioning. Yuck!
Living there turned out to be the best decision though. We made so many close friendships that will last a lifetime. I don't know what I would have done without all of my neighbor friends who knew exactly what it was like to have your husband gone/stressed out all of the time. Who swapped babysitting and shared meals and were willing to lend a listening ear. Our little family had experiences and opportunities here that we wouldn't have had if we'd chosen to live elsewhere and we will always have fond memories of this place.
Goodbye Village, we'll miss you! |
moving can be so bitter sweet, I know it is going to be really hard to move from where we live too, but that is so exciting for you guys to have more space- I am learning how quickly the walls can close in when you have 2 kids!
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly how I feel about the village as well. We still miss the time we spent there and all the great friends we had including you!!!
